What's on Trend in 2019

According to HAR's Houston Realtor magazine, the following are the 5 hottest home design trends for 2019.  If you are thinking about making changes to your home - updating your home - keep these trends in mind.  If you are thinking about preparing your home for sale, these may be helpful to you and your upcoming sale.  Of course, I always recommend consulting with your Realtor as to what is hot in your neighborhood/market.  

5 Hot Home Trends:

1.  BLUES - Some major paint firms are telling us that blues are the new preferred color for 2019.  They recommend mid-tone blues.  Blues are also showing up more in home accessories as the accent color.  However, I recommend you do not go crazy and paint everything blue.  I still believe a more neutral pallet will help sell your home.

2.  BACK TO BLACK - Black is showing up in appliances and even cabinetry.  Black hardware is also trending now.  Since you know me, you know I love to wear black - it is classic and works for any situation.  However, again, don't go crazy with black in your home.  A room painted black is probably not the most well-received.  I suggest using this as an accent.

3.  SOUTHWEST - Southwest design themes are creeping back into trend.  Sherwin Williams chose Cavern Clay as it color of the year.  They are recommending this as a "backdrop" color.

4.  Terrazzo Returns - Terrazzo is a hard stone-like  material and is easily recognized by the speckles in the material.  It was very popular in the 80's and is making its comeback.  (What goes around, comes around).

5.  Natural Look - Blend the indoors and outdoors.  Natural elements are coming back - rattan, wood, natural fibers.  This will blur the lines between the indoors and outdoors.
